Suburbs of Tampa

Hi, I’m Lisa Carroll with Team TLC, Mihara & Associates.

I’m excited to share with you one of the confusing things about Tampa Bay. That’s all the different areas that Tampa Bay encompasses. So today I’m gonna kinda shed some light on that for you.

So when people talk about Tampa Bay it really encompasses a much larger area than the actual area of Tampa. We consider Pinellas County, Pasco County and Hillsborough County all really part of the Tampa Bay area. So from the west of downtown Tampa area we have the beaches (Clearwater Beach and St. Pete Beach and a bunch of other little beach areas in this section of Pinellas County). And all of these are approximately one hour from downtown Tampa. So a lot of people choose to live on the beach and commute to downtown Tampa or downtown St. Pete to work.

We also have the South Shore area, which is south of downtown Tampa. Apollo Beach, Riverview, these areas are really, really popular for people that work at the base. So our base is right over here, MacDill Air Force Base, and it’s really easy to get over there and it’s beautiful because you have the water of Tampa Bay.

Up in this area we have some areas that we refer to as Brandon, which is a town. And we also have Lithia. Then we have little suburbs like Bloomingdale and different names and it gets really confusing because some of them are names of subdivisions and some of them are names of towns. So we tend to do that here in the Tampa area.

For example, when you go back over here to the Tampa area there’s South Tampa, there’s North Tampa, but then there’s Carrollwood and Town ‘N’ County and Westchase and it just gets kind of confusing. I’ve lived here a long time and I understand what they all mean but I know for people that are coming to the area it can be kind of confusing.

Just in South Tampa you have Hyde Park, Palma Ceia. You have all these different areas so it’s hard to descern exactly what people mean sometimes, but we can definitely help you sort that out.

When you come up north of Tampa, you have different towns like Lutz and Odessa, which are beautiful towns with lakes. And then you get up into Pasco County which has Land O’ Lakes, and all different kinds of areas over here along the coast as well. Which has smaller homes which are less expensive and not as popular of beach areas. So the beaches are more down in this area but we do have coastal cities up here that you can access the gulf for fishing on your boats and lots of canals and the prices up there are really good.

An area that I really wanted to focus a little more on today, is Pasco County. Land O’ Lakes and Wesley Chapel specifically. These areas have a lot of new construction and newer neighborhoods. And the neighborhoods also feature a lot of amenities. So within the neighborhood you’ll have fitness centers, pools, playgrounds, parks, dog parks all kinds of things. A couple of the neighborhoods that we really love in the area are Wilderness Lake Preserve, The Preserve at Lake Thomas and Epperson Lagoon. Bexley is also really nice.

So in the whole Tampa Bay area, you can go from city high rises with walking to restaurants and entertainment right out your door. Also over in the St. Pete area and along some of the beaches. You can also go up into this area and get more of a ranch with some land. There’s horse farms, there’s acreage. There’s more rural opportunities.

So you can go from A to Z in our Tampa Bay area. No matter what you’re looking for, we have it.
