Hernando County Real Estate
Hernando County, located north of Tampa and St. Petersburg, is another rapidly growing area of the Tampa Bay area. Its largest community is Spring Hill and as of 2005, Hernando was the 35th fastest-growing county in the country.
Hernando County is home to about 181,000 residents and 95% of the communities within the county are unincorporated. Brooksville is the county seat and there is over 472 miles of landmass originally established back in 1843. There are five single districts and currently a median household income of about 43,000 residents. It was named in honor of the Spanish explorer Hernando DeSoto and is known as Florida's Adventure Coast. It includes several freshwater rivers, Springs, State Forest, preserves, and Gulf waters providing many land and water adventures for residents and vacationers alike.
